Public Health Standards and Knowledge Committee
The Public Health Standards and Knowledge Committee is responsible for:
- ensuring, through work on developing systems within the Faculty and its membership, that the highest standards of public health practice are attained and maintained;
- recommending to the Faculty Board the structures and processes by which high quality public health practice can be achieved through public health governance, including:
- standards and competencies for public health practice;
- guidance on how best to achieve continuing professional development and audit;
- principles and mechanisms for appraisal and revalidation in public health practice.
- monitoring equivalence of standards between the different types of specialists being developed by the Faculty and by the UK Public Health Register, and recommending any necessary action;
- overseeing the Faculty’s work on the development of practitioners;
- overseeing the Faculty’s work on public health knowledge, including research, and information and intelligence.
The committee meets four times a year.
